An absolutely stunning ice axe. We have sold thousands of vintage wooden ice axes and only a handful have had this much figure. We believe the wood to be a "fiddle back Maple" also known as tiger maple, flamed maple, curly maple, ripple maple, etc. Still as strong as the day it was made it could still be used today! It features a neutral tip clearance pick, solid wooden shaft, curved adze and traditionally shaped spike.
